Welcome to the wild world of ZOONOOZ
What is ZOONOOZ? Well, for one thing the title is a palindrome: the same forward, backwards, and upside down! Beyond that, it is the San Diego Zoo's member magazine, 32 pages of colorful animal and event information published every month.
First published in 1926, it is one of the benefits included in becoming a member of the San Diego Zoo, and most of the 250,000 plus circulation is mailed to our members.
What will you find in ZOONOOZ?
- Feature-length articles about the animals that live at the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park.
- Articles about Zoo and Wild Animal Park exhibits and what animals you’ll see there.
- The regular feature CRES Conservation Corner, with stories about research and conservation projects from Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES).
- The regular feature On the Botanical Side, with stories about the huge variety of plants found on the grounds of the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park.
- The special ZOONOOZ calendar issue every November.
- News about events, education programs, giving opportunities, and conservation efforts.
If you want to be in the know, ZOONOOZ is for you!
ZOONOOZ® Magazine: October 2008
The Meerkat Chronicles
When it comes to cute, the decks appears to be stacked in favor of the southwest African meerkat Suricata suricatta hahni—like the trio pictured on the cover. Is it their mesmerizing gaze? Their nonstop activity? Their superior posture? Whatever the draw, the colonies are visitor—and staff—favorites. Occasional squabbles and drama aside, when the chips are down, the mob sticks together. Read about the ongoing saga of the meerkats on Elephant Mesa in this month's issue of ZOONOOZ®
In this issue:
